Perhaps you don’t know exactly what’s wrong, or where your difficulties started? Or maybe your experience of difficult life events has changed the way you connect with yourself and others around you? During your initial psychological assessment, your psychologist will provide a safe space for you to share your story, without judgment. Their collaborative approach means you will work together to find a shared understanding of your difficulties. Your psychologist will draw on psychological theory to develop a ‘formulation’ of your presenting concerns, which will directly inform your treatment plan and you can agree together on the most helpful type of therapy for you. 

Our psychologists are experienced in supporting people to explore their distress, which may cause unwanted behaviours, difficulties with their mental health and in relationships, or problems at work. Their extensive training and experience working with a broad range of difficulties means you can feel confident that you will receive clinically-informed and evidence-based therapy that draws from a range of psychological models, delivered in the way that suits you best. Our Chartered Clinical Psychologists offer specialist psychological consultations, assessments and therapy for individuals and couples who are seeking support to make sense of difficult life experiences, emotional difficulties and/or unwanted behaviours.

At Cooley Psychological Wellbeing we work with clients who present with a broad range of difficulties. Examples are listed below, but this is not an exhaustive list and we welcome enquiries about support with problems you may be having which aren’t here.

    • Anxiety including health anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, phobias, social anxiety, panic attacks, generalised anxiety disorder

Therapeutic models

Our psychologists have a wealth of training and experience delivering multiple models of psychotherapy, which means she will provide an integrative, evidence-based and clinically-informed intervention that is tailored for you. Depending on your goals, at the start of your therapy you may wish to set a fixed number of sessions or enter into a more open ended agreement.

Services and fees

All of our clients are welcome to self fund their treatment. However, we are also a recognised healthcare provider for major insurance companies, including AXA, Aviva and Vitality Health. If your insurance provider is not listed here, please get in touch and we may be able to arrange registration.

Initial Psychological Assessment

Initial psychological assessments with a Chartered Clinical Psychologist, are typically scheduled for either 50 or 90 minutes. This ensures enough time to establish a shared understanding of your difficulties, goals for your therapy and to develop a treatment plan tailored to your unique needs. If after the assessment we do not feel that our skills best suit your needs, we will offer further advice, signposting or referrals to a service that will provide the support you need.


We find that committing to weekly or fortnightly sessions supports good therapeutic outcomes. Therapy sessions are 50 minutes in length. Depending on your goals, at the start of your therapy you may wish to set a fixed number of sessions or enter into a more open ended agreement.

Letters and Reports

We can provide you, your employer or other healthcare providers with a letter confirming your appointments at no extra charge. A summary of, or full report pertaining to your psychological assessment and / or therapy can be written for an additional fee. 

Telephone Consultation

Our psychologists will offer a free, 15-minute telephone consultation to understand why you are seeking therapy and to discuss the questions you may have. This means you can decide whether you wish to progress with assessment and therapy without committing to pay for a full initial assessment. Alternatively, you can come for an initial assessment with no obligation to return for continuing therapy.
